All of us read and write but how many of us know the secrets of doing these that would make them better? Not all of us and may be only the professionals who are in this field. The basic point that is forgotten by many when they write is that the contents need to be legible and clear so that the message is conveyed clearly and flawlessly to the reader. The very purpose of writing is to spread something important to the others or for the writer`s future reference. But if the writing is bad and untidy, the very purpose of writing goes for a toss. This is where we need to understand the importance and significance of typography.
Typography is an art of arranging the types in the writing process to make them look legible, readable and understandable to the readers. As said above, the main reason for putting down anything on paper is for others to read and understand; so this needs to be done properly which otherwise might not fulfill the purpose. This typography also talks about the font sizes, the font types, the line spacing and everything related to writing to make a piece of information look picture- perfect and into the best readable format so that it is conveyed well and properly to the readers.
Is typography used by all? Is it used by all the writers? The need for typography was there from even the ancient days but not everybody made an effort to use this. Reasons could be that they were unaware or unskilled in this technique or probably the writing patterns were better those days. Even in the present day world, typography is not used by all the writers. The writers of today do not consider themselves to be typographers. In the ancient days, the facilities and amenities were insufficient and this became one major reason for writers ignoring this part in their works. But with digitalization, this has been made simple and easy in the modern day world. Every tom, dick and harry can write today and use the different and some amazing tools to add flavor to their writing.
But how are the writings that do not follow typography welcomed? Not all of us know about this typography technique nor do all the writers. So in such cases, if a writer can pen down his ideas and ideals neatly then it becomes popular among the readers though it has not followed any of these typographical proficiencies. Well, that being said, the very purpose of typography is to make a content look better and legible, but when this can happen naturally, the need for such techniques vanishes.
This art or technique of making a write-up beautiful and attractive was not present in the ancient days. But with modern advancements, this is now made available to all and almost all of those who write anything and everything tend to use this technique to make their content look better and enhanced. Remember your styles and methods of writing might also be a reason for attracting or not attracting readers for your content. So it has become important and essential for all the writers to use these techniques to gain a greater reach. Typography is now a global, pervasive tool that is made available in all the systems and laptops without any extra download or add-ins. They, in fact, come along with the applications prompting all the users to use them without fail.
We mostly dedicate and obligate the success of the writings of many to this beautiful and very useful technique of typography. But this modern advancement and digitalization in this field is a boon or a bane? Of course, it is a boon to the modern writers whose works get automatically checked for their styles and sizes and everything is done mechanically just on a click. But this has definitely put a full stop to the innovative thinking and natural talents of people in designing their own work with their own ideas and methods and this is what makes the writers of the ancient times still the best. Their important works of historical importance are still evergreen and they are sure to last for another era.
